State of Michigan allocates $3 million to implement Michigan Workforce Training Equipment Grant

The State of Michigan has allocated $3 million statewide to implement the Michigan Workforce Training Center Equipment Grant Program to support equipment purchases for qualified training providers that offer workforce training for qualified employers and individuals in Michigan.

Workforce training includes, but is not limited to, talent enhancement, increasing worker productivity, development of workforce skills, leadership, and management training, as well as worker retention.

Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) will administer State funds for the Detroit/Wayne County region. Eligible applicants include qualified training providers located in Wayne County or Detroit that meet at least one of the following criteria:

● A proprietary school licensed under the proprietary schools act, 1943 PA 148, MCL 395.101 to 395.103; ● A registered United States Department of Labor joint apprenticeship training center; ● An employer that has a physical presence in the State of Michigan, as determined by the MEDC. ● A vendor that provides training for the operation of equipment or systems for which the vendor is the provider.

Eligible applicants may apply for a minimum of $20,000 but no more than $90,000.
